questions (part 1)
And then, your lover leaves town and you can suddenly finish all these half-written poems 🕊
questions reveal the asker
more than any given answer.
how many come to ask of this love
“but are you committed?”
oh, i’m committed -
but only to truth
and to following love’s wild, meandering ways
cause all i’ve learned, love has sooner or later
pissed on without a second glance
so what can i say,
shrug and smile
i don’t know what’s going on here
i don’t do contracts, i am just given
devotion folded our hearts into corners of one pattern
and the rest is mystery,
breathless drunk happiness at impossible odds,
random flirts with catastrophe
and temporary wisdom plucked from prickly fruit.
tomorrow’s a pleasant maybe,
and none of my concern.
like you all i have is eyes to see
that a frail eternity shimmers here,
like a twinkling star sharing its light -
let that beauty be all the answers.
