The landmark.
Land marks us,
Remarks us
unmasks us.

My fluttering heart
Opens to the gaze of
Limestone,
The patter of rain
Sliding down our ears
in big, wet patches

Rain gifts me
This rendez-vous,
You
And me
All alone.

One word from you
Glory
Seeps into my body,
Diffuses its perfume in my cells.

Nothing ever hurt me
As much as the interruption
Of nature’s constant whispers.

But I have traveled
down the backbone of the islands,
Seen their horrendous scars
And cried over the
Radiant lines that still sing,
Sketching rivers and ferns and springs

- And that day the stones were smiling.
I meandered between
Their skirts,
Listened into
conversations filled with
Centuries of sky.

I love how my words can only slide off them,
Like any great love.

Can never dream of touching
Their monumental being.

clan of laughing grandmothers.

Your loud, loud dreaming
Colors my nights still.
