rewriting with generosity

i’m enjoying the process of re-editing poems with the lense of generosity.
i originally wrote all of them just as notes from me to me. the inside of my heart knows what i’m talking about.

but now i’m focusing on the fact that this is actually a shared gift. i’m laying down big white stepping stones for you to cross over inside - giving context, giving details, explaining and highlighting.

cause you don’t know yet.
that our flat had tulips splashed in every room, multi-colored beauties reigning dead and alive on every surface.
that i call him little fish because he takes four showers a day whenever he can get away with it.
you don’t know that my heart hasn’t had that kind of companionship in a solid decade.
that this one scene unfolds on the mountain where the greek gods were born.

i’m loving putting put down more of the scaffolding that’s holding up the ever-present wonder.
i show you the pains i didn’t mention because they’re so familiar, the constant moving, some things i won’t bring to light but can still point to their shadow.

makes me think of singing with the brilliant orca, who’s constantly shouting “Give me more! More!More!”
being generous. daring to unveil. putting down more stones.
