4 months with Baba Yaga 2 - Love

the women gazed at the flames
and realized
“right now
my job
is loving”

attend the courting dance
of this raven, frog, bear

whoever the ball of thread led me to
and day after day

see the prince in the plumage

And love-winged,
Song-fed,
explore the kingdom
I’m invited to share.

Embroider Silver-whispered
I love yous
Into the leaves of every tree,
Tinkle it into streams
Kiss it into mushrooms,
Every moonbeam and stroke of sun,
Every Drop of rain or honey

Pave it down twisted paths
And rub it in the mold of abandoned bathhouses,

Wrap my love ivy wreathed around great storm-struck oaks
And blow it into lost children’s wintering warrens

Into kitchens full of laughter and limping dogs
And crooked memories
That leak into the butter sometimes,

Bake it hot into songs hummed over pastries,
surprise plane tickets
And warm blankets under the rain,

Warm blankets under the rain.
